Importing Backup Data to the Destination Database on Huawei Cloud RDS for SQL Server
- Use SSMS to connect to the destination database on Huawei Cloud RDS for SQL Server. Right-click Databases and choose Deploy Data-tier Application from the shortcut menu. The Extract Data-tier Application page is displayed. Figure 1 SSMS page
- On the Introduction page, click Next to skip the page and go to the page for selecting the DAC package. Figure 2 Introduction
- On Select Package page, select the local absolute path of the dacpac file exported from Azure SQL. The following figure shows an example. Then, click Next. The upgrade configuration page is displayed. Figure 3 Select Package
- On the Upgrade Configuration page, set the name of the database deployed on the destination end, as shown in the following figure. Then, click Next. The information overview page is displayed. Figure 4 Upgrade Configuration
- On the Summary page, if the configuration information is inconsistent with the preset information, click <Previous to return to the previous page and reconfigure the information. If the configuration information meets the expectation, click Next. The Deploy DAC page is displayed. Figure 5 Summary
- On the Deploy DAC page, the result of DAC deployment is displayed. Ensure that the Result column for all items is Success. Then, click Finish to close the page for deploying data layer applications. Figure 6 Result
- Use SSMS to connect to the Huawei Cloud RDS for SQL Server database and check whether the objects, users, and permissions have been synchronized. Figure 7 Confirmation on the SSMS page
Ensure that all tables in the destination RDS database are empty.

- User synchronization: The permissions of the synchronized users comply with the mapping between users and databases or tables. However, the encryption mechanism of SQL Server on Huawei Cloud is different from that on Azure. As a result, the password for Azure SQL Server is not compatible with Huawei Cloud RDS for SQL Server. You will need to reset the service user. The following are example SQL statements:
use [master] ALTER LOGIN [user_test1] WITH CHECK_POLICY = OFF ALTER LOGIN [user_test1] WITH PASSWORD = 'a12***6@' ALTER LOGIN [user_test1] WITH CHECK_POLICY = ON use [msdb] CREATE USER [user_test1] FOR LOGIN [user_test1];
