Which Items Occupy the Storage Space of RDS Instances I Have Created?

Both your regular data (backup data not included) and the data required for the operation of your instances (such as system databases, database logs, and indexes) take up storage space on your RDS instances. The storage space includes the file system overhead required for inode, reserved blocks, and database operations. The following RDS logs also occupy storage space:

  • Binlogs generated by RDS for MySQL instances
  • Logs generated by RDS for PostgreSQL instances
  • Logs generated by RDS for SQL Server instances (including RDS for SQL Server logs, default trace logs, and agent logs)

These logs help you ensure the stability of RDS instances.
