Why a Black Screen Is Displayed When the MSTSC Client is Used to Access a Host Resource?
Symptom
A black screen is displayed when the MSTSC client is used to access host resources.
Solutions
- Open the group policy on the local computer and go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Terminal Server Client directory.
- Right-click Terminal Server Client and choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value (D) from the shortcut menu to create a DWORD.
- Name DWORD to RemoteDesktop_SuppressWhenMinimized and set its value to 2.
An Error Message Is Displayed After the Registry Is Modified
If a message is displayed indicating that the remote computer cannot be connected after you modify the registry, perform the following operations.
- Start Remote Desktop Connection, click Show Options, and select Display.
- Reduce the resolution of the display configuration and change the color to the enhanced color (16 bits).
- Click Experience and set the connection speed to Low-speed broadband (256 kbps - 2 Mbps).
