Binding UBoE NICs to a Lite Server Supernode

Description

In a distributed computing environment, if you need to create or manage supernodes, the storage network performance may be weak, especially compared with the RDMA protocol. To improve the storage network performance, you can use Unified Boot and Ethernet (UBoE) NICs. To achieve performance as high as RDMA, select UBoE NICs during supernode creation. For existing supernodes, you need to manually bind them to UBoE NICs for better performance.

Constraints

UBoE NICs can be bound only to Snt9b23 supernodes.

Binding UBoE NICs During Resource Creation

When creating supernode resources, you can bind UBoE NICs by selecting the UBoE option in the network configuration parameters. For details, see Step 5: Purchasing Lite Server Resources.

Binding UBoE NICs to Existing Resources

For existing supernode resources, you can bind UBoE NICs via the Lite Server details page on the ModelArts console to optimize performance.

  1. Log in to the ModelArts console. In the navigation pane, choose Resource Management > Lite Servers. The Resources tab is displayed.
    • New console: In the navigation pane, choose Resource Management > Lite Compute Resources > Lite Servers.
    • Old console: In the navigation pane, choose Resource Management > Lite Servers.

  2. On the Supernodes tab page of the Lite Server resource list, click the supernode name to go to the supernode details page.
  3. In the node list, click the node name to go to the node details page.
  4. On the Network Interfaces tab page, click Attach Network Interface.
  5. In the displayed dialog box, configure Subnet and Security Group, select UBoE from the EFI drop-down list, and click OK.

    Multiple security groups can be selected. You can select the default or a custom private IP address. When you select a custom private IP address, you can click the button on the right to ensure the intended IP address is available. Do not enter an occupied IP address to avoid conflicts.

  6. View the added NIC on the Network Interfaces tab page of the Lite Server node details page.

Related Operations

Attached UBoE NICs can be detached. Click Detach on the right on the Network Interfaces tab page of the node details page and confirm the operation.
