Multi-protocol message template

Message templates contain fixed and changeable content and can be used to create and send messages more quickly. When you use a template to publish a message, you can specify values for different variables in the template.

Message templates are identified by name, but you can create different templates with the same name as long as they are configured for different protocols. All template messages must include a Default template or they cannot be sent out. The Default template is used any time a template has not been configured for a given protocol, but as long as there is a template for the protocol, then any subscriber who selected that protocol when they subscribed will receive a message using the corresponding template.

Topic subscription

A topic is used to publish messages and subscribe to notifications. It serves as a message transmission channel between publishers and subscribers.

A subscription is how you register an endpoint to a topic. To send a topic's messages to an endpoint, you must add the subscription endpoint to the topic. Endpoints can be email addresses, phone numbers, functions, application mobile devices, message queues, and URLs. After you add endpoints to the topic and the subscribers confirm the subscription, they will receive messages published to the topic.
