Uploading an Offline Data Source to OBS

RES uses OBS to store data sources. Before using RES, you need to enable the OBS service, create a bucket, and upload user data to the bucket for the calculation of recommendation jobs.

The following data needs to be stored in the OBS bucket:

  1. Offline data sources, including user data, item data, behavior data, and recommendation candidate sets.
  2. Candidate sets of the manual import strategy (item ID lists).

The region where the bucket is created must be the same as the region where RES resides. For example, if RES is located in CN North-Beijing1, select CN North-Beijing1 when creating a bucket.

Prerequisites

  • You have prepared an offline data source as instructed in Preparing an Offline Data Source.
  • You have enabled OBS. The OBS directory you use is in the same region as RES.
  • You have obtained a pair of AK and SK.

Uploading Data on OBS Console

You can use the OBS management console to upload data. For more information on how to create a bucket and upload files, see Creating a Bucket and Uploading an Object.

Perform the following operations to import data to the dataset for model training and building.

  1. Log in to OBS management console and create a bucket in the same region as RES. If an available bucket exists, ensure that the OBS bucket and RES are in the same region.
  2. Upload the local data to the OBS bucket. If you have a large amount of data, you are advised to use OBS Browser+ to upload data or folders.

When the data is uploaded, access the bucket on the OBS management console and choose Objects to view the uploaded data.
