Grace Period and Retention Period

Definitions

Question: What are a grace period and a retention period?

Grace period: Once a monthly/yearly subscription has expired or a pay-per-use resource becomes in arrears, HUAWEI CLOUD provides a period of time during which you can renew the resource or top up your account. Within the grace period, you can still access and use your cloud service. Retention period: If you do not renew the monthly/yearly subscription or pay off the arrears within the grace period, the resource enters a retention period after the grace period has expired. Within the retention period, you cannot access or use your cloud service but your data stored in the cloud service is still retained. After a resource enters a grace period or retention period, HUAWEI CLOUD will notify you of this by email or text message. If you still do not complete the renewal or payment after the retention period has ended, your data stored in the cloud service will be deleted and the resource will be released.

Rules for the Grace Period

You can still use your cloud services within the grace period and you need to pay the fees for the grace period.

Prepayment

  1. Automatic renewal of a monthly/yearly subscription: If your account balance is insufficient for an automatic renewal, HUAWEI CLOUD will not stop your cloud service immediately but transition the subscription to the grace period. The fees for the grace period will be also charged when you top up your account.
  2. Non-automatic renewal of a monthly/yearly subscription: After the subscription has expired, it enters a grace period. The fees for the grace period will be also charged when you top up your account.
  3. Pay-per-use cloud services: After the account for your pay-per-use cloud services becomes in arrears, all your pay-per-use cloud services will become in arrears. However, your pay-per-use cloud services will not be stopped immediately but transitioned to a grace period. Within the grace period, if the total spend of a cloud service has exceeded the maximum spend of a day among the 30 days prior to the grace period, the grace period will end immediately. The fees for the grace period will be also charged when you top up your account.

Post Payment

  1. After your credit has been used up or becomes insufficient, top up your account. If you do not top up your account or increase your credit limit, your pay-per-use cloud services will enter a grace period. The fees for the grace period will be presented in your bills and you need to pay them.
  2. When the payment is overdue, your cloud services except the monthly/yearly subscriptions that have been paid in full amount are transitioned to the grace period. The fees for the grace period will be presented in your bills and you need to pay them.

Rules for the Retention Period

Within the retention period, you cannot access and use your cloud services. However, your cloud service resources and your data stored in the cloud services will be retained. If you do not pay off the arrears after the retention period has expired, your cloud service resources will be released and your data will also be deleted.

Prepayment

  1. Monthly/yearly subscription: If you do not renew the subscription within the grace period, the cloud service enters a retention period. The fees for the grace period will be also charged when you renew the subscription. If you do not renew the subscription within the retention period, the corresponding cloud service resources will be released and your data will also be deleted.
  2. Pay-per-use cloud services: If you do not pay off the arrears within the grace period, your cloud services enter a retention period. If you do not pay the arrears after the retention period has expired, the corresponding cloud service resources will be released and your data will also be deleted.

Post Payment

  1. After your credit has been used up or becomes insufficient, top up your account. If you do not top up your account or increase the credit limit, your pay-per-use cloud services will enter a retention period. If you do not top your account or increase the credit limit after the retention period has expired, the corresponding cloud service resources will be released and your data will also be deleted. You agree that HUAWEI CLOUD has the right to decide whether to approve or reject your request for increasing your credit limit.
  2. If you do not clear overdue bills within the grace period, all cloud services except the monthly/yearly subscriptions that have been fully paid will enter a retention period. If you still do not clear the overdue bills after the retention period has expired, your cloud service resources will be released and your data will also be deleted. The fees for the grace period will be presented in your bills and you need to pay them.
