Changing the Billing Mode from Pay-per-Use to Yearly/Monthly

Scenarios

If you plan to use GaussDB(for MySQL) for a long time, you can change the billing mode of a DB instance from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly for a lower tariff.

Constraints

  • The billing mode of read replicas cannot be changed from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly.
  • Pay-per-use DB instances in any of the following statuses cannot be changed to yearly/monthly: frozen, creation failed, changing instance class, scaling up, and creating read replicas.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the management console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner and select a region and a project.
  3. Click Service List. Under Database, click GaussDB.
  4. On the Instance Management page, locate the target DB instance and click Change to Yearly/Monthly in the Operation column. On the displayed page, select your desired storage space and click Next.

Alternatively, click the target DB instance to go to the Basic Information page. In the Billing Information area, click Change in the Billing Mode field, as shown in Figure 1. On the displayed page, select your desired storage space and click Next.

By default, the new storage space is rounded up. For example, if the used storage space of your pay-per-use DB instance is 91 GB, the minimum storage space you can select is 100 GB when you change the billing mode to yearly/monthly.

  5. Select the renewal duration in the unit of month. The minimum duration is one month.

    • If you do not need to modify your settings, click Pay to go to the payment page.
    • If you have not paid for the order, the system will reserve your order. You can choose Billing Center > My Orders in the upper right corner and pay or cancel the order.

  6. Select a payment method and click Pay.
  7. After the billing mode is changed from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly, you can view and manage the DB instance on the Instance Management page.

In the upper right corner of the DB instance list, click to refresh the list. After the billing mode is changed to yearly/monthly, the instance status will change to Available and the billing mode will change to Yearly/Monthly.
