Upgrading Static BGP to Dynamic BGP

Scenarios

A static BGP EIP can be upgraded to a dynamic BGP EIP. Routing protocols of a dynamic BGP EIP provide automatic, real-time optimization of network configurations, ensuring network stability and user experience.

Upgrading the BGP type does not change the billing mode or interrupt services.

Static BGP EIPs that are billed on a pay-per-use basis can be upgraded to dynamic BGP EIPs individually or in batches, and the upgrade takes effect immediately. Static BGP EIPs that are billed on a yearly/monthly basis can only be upgraded to dynamic BGP EIPs individually, and the upgrade takes effect after you pay the difference in price.

Notes and Constraints

  • Currently, this feature is available in regions CN East-Shanghai2 and CN South-Guangzhou.
  • Only static BGP EIPs created before 22:00:00, June 05, 2019 (UTC+8), can be upgraded to dynamic BGP EIPs.
  • After static BGP is upgraded to dynamic BGP, it cannot be changed back to static BGP.

Single Upgrade

  1. Log in to the management console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner and select the desired region and project.
  3. On the console homepage, under Network, click Elastic IP.
  4. Locate the row that contains the static BGP EIP you want to upgrade and click Upgrade to Dynamic BGP in the Operation column.

  5. Click Next.
  6. For a pay-per-use EIP, click Submit.
  7. For a yearly/monthly EIP, click Pay Now to pay the difference in price.

Batch Upgrade

Static BGP EIPs that are billed on a pay-per-use basis can be upgraded to dynamic BGP EIPs in batches.

  1. Log in to the management console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner and select the desired region and project.
  3. On the console homepage, under Network, click Elastic IP.
  4. Click Upgrade to Dynamic BGP on the upper left of the list. By default, all static BGP EIPs whose billing mode is pay-per-use on the current page are selected.
    You can also select the EIPs that you want to upgrade and click Upgrade to Dynamic BGP.

  5. Click Submit.
