Assigning an EIP and Binding It to an ECS

Step 1: Preparations

Registering with HUAWEI CLOUD and Completing Real-Name Authentication

If you already have a HUAWEI CLOUD account, skip this step. To create an account, do as follows:

  1. Log in at https://www.huaweicloud.com/en-us/ and click Register.
  2. On the displayed page, register an account as prompted. For details, see Registering on the HUAWEI CLOUD Management Console.

    After you have successfully registered, the system automatically redirects you to the account information page.

  3. Complete real-name authentication by following the instructions in Real-Name Authentication.

Topping Up Your Account

Ensure that your account has sufficient balance.

Step 2: Assign an EIP

  1. Log in to the management console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner and select the desired region and project.
  3. On the console homepage, under Network, click Elastic IP.
  4. On the displayed page, click Buy EIP.
  5. Set the parameters as prompted.

    Billing Mode

    The following billing modes are available:

    • Yearly/Monthly

    Region

    Specifies the desired region. Regions are geographic areas that are physically isolated from each other. The networks inside different regions are not connected to each other, so resources cannot be shared across different regions. For lower network latency and faster access to your resources, select the region nearest you.

    EIP Type
    • Dynamic BGP: When changes occur on a network using dynamic BGP, routing protocols provide automatic, real-time optimization of network configurations, ensuring network stability and improving user experience.
    • Static BGP: Static BGP offers more routing control and protects against route flapping, but an optimal path cannot be selected in real time when a network connection fails.

    This parameter is available when you set Billing Mode to Pay-per-use.

    • Bandwidth: You specify a maximum bandwidth and pay for the amount of time you use the bandwidth. This is suitable for scenarios with heavy or stable traffic.
    • Traffic: You specify a maximum bandwidth and pay for the total traffic you use. This is suitable for scenarios where the traffic is light or sharply fluctuating.
    • Shared Bandwidth: The bandwidth can be shared by multiple EIPs. This is suitable for scenarios with staggered traffic.

    Specifies the bandwidth size in Mbit/s.

    IPv6 EIP

    After the IPv6 EIP function is enabled, you will obtain an extra IPv6 EIP. External IPv6 addresses can access cloud resources through this IPv6 EIP.

    Specifies the name of the bandwidth.

    You must specify the required duration if Billing Mode is set to Yearly/Monthly.

    Specifies the number of EIPs to be assigned.

    This parameter is available only when Billing Mode is set to Pay-per-use.

    Tag

    Specifies the EIP tag that consists of a key and value pair.

    The tag key and value must meet the requirements listed in Table 2.

    • Value: 192.168.12.10

    Enterprise Project

    When assigning an EIP, you can add the EIP to an enabled enterprise project.

    An enterprise project facilitates project-level management and grouping of cloud resources and users. The name of the default project is default.

    • If you are buying an EIP billed on a pay-per-use basis and you want to use shared bandwidth, you can only select an existing shared bandwidth from the Bandwidth Name drop-down list. If there are no shared bandwidths to select, purchase a shared bandwidth first.
    • A dedicated bandwidth cannot be changed to a shared bandwidth and vice versa. However, you can purchase shared bandwidth for pay-per-use EIPs.
      • After an EIP is added to a shared bandwidth, the EIP will use the shared bandwidth.
      • After an EIP is removed from the shared bandwidth, the EIP will use the dedicated bandwidth.
  6. Click Buy Now.
  7. Click Submit.

Step 3: Bind an EIP

  1. On the EIPs page, locate the row that contains the EIP you want to bind, and click Bind.
  2. Select the instance to which you want to bind the EIP.

  3. Click OK.
