Billing Modes

Yearly/Monthly
  • Only billing by bandwidth is supported. If you create a yearly/monthly VPN gateway, the price of the VPN gateway includes the price of the VPN connections created for the gateway and the price of the bandwidth. The VPN connections created later will not be billed during the validity period. You will enjoy more discounts if you select the yearly/monthly billing mode.
  • Total price = Bandwidth price + VPN price

A VPN gateway bandwidth will be shared by all the VPN connections created for the VPN gateway. Evaluate the required bandwidth based on the amount of data transmitted over all the VPN connections.

Pay-per-Use
  • Billed by bandwidth

If you select billing by bandwidth, the billing cycle is one hour. The generated fee also varies depending on the bandwidth size. The total price includes a VPN gateway bandwidth price and the price of the VPN connection created together with the gateway. If you create another connection for the gateway, you will be charged only for the additional connection.

Total price = VPN gateway bandwidth price + VPN connection price

The bandwidth you purchased for a VPN gateway is outbound bandwidth, that is, the bandwidth from a VPC to your on-premises data center.

    • If the outbound bandwidth is 10 Mbit/s or less, the inbound bandwidth is limited to 10 Mbit/s.
    • If the outbound bandwidth is more than 10 Mbit/s, the inbound bandwidth is the same as the outbound bandwidth.

For example, if the bandwidth you purchased is 50 Mbit/s, you use the VPN gateway for 5 hours and then delete it, you will be charged for 5 hours based on the 50 Mbit/s bandwidth. Even if you do not transmit any data during those five hours, you will still be charged for the bandwidth of 50 Mbit/s.

  • Billed by traffic

If you select billing by traffic, the traffic for each hour will be recorded, and the billing unit is 1 GB. If less than 1 GB is used, the price varies (Total price = Used traffic/1 GB x Price of 1 GB traffic). In this case, modifying the bandwidth size does not change the public network traffic price per GB. Only traffic in the outbound direction is billed.

Total price = Public network traffic price + VPN connection price

Changing Billing Options

You can change the billing options of a VPN gateway as follows:

  • Change the billing mode of a VPN gateway billed by bandwidth from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly.
  • Change a pay-per-use VPN gateway from being billed by bandwidth to be billed by traffic or the other way around.
  • Change the billing mode of a VPN gateway billed by traffic from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly.
  • To change the billing mode of a VPN gateway billed by traffic from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly, first change the VPN gateway from being billed by traffic to being billed by bandwidth and then from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly.
  • The billing mode of a VPN gateway cannot be changed from yearly/monthly to pay-per-use and the VPN gateway bandwidth included in the yearly/monthly subscription cannot be decreased.

Changing the Billing Mode of a VPN Gateway Billed by Bandwidth from Pay-per-use to Yearly/Monthly

  • Prerequisites
    • The pay-per-use VPN gateway is billed by bandwidth.

    • If you change the billing mode of a VPN gateway from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly, the number of VPN connections that can be created for the VPN gateway is 10 after the change by default.
    1. In the displayed Change Billing Mode dialog box, confirm the information about the VPN gateway and configure Renewal Duration.
    2. Click Pay.
    3. On the payment page, confirm the order information, select coupon or discount, and select the payment method.
