Do I Need to Purchase an Internet Outbound Traffic Package If I Already Have an Origin Pull Traffic Package?
A pull traffic package provides network traffic volumes for data transferred by CDN from OBS buckets, when OBS buckets are used as origin sites of CDN.
An internet outbound traffic package provides network traffic volumes for data transferred from OBS to local devices over the internet.
The following explains which type of data traffic is used in different scenarios:
- Internet outbound traffic is used when object download and other query operations (such as listing objects and obtaining bucket or object metadata) are performed on OBS Console. Using tools or SDKs to download objects over internet without CDN acceleration will also generate internet outbound traffic.
- Accessing a bucket through its access domain name consumes internet outbound traffic.
- Assume that you use an OBS bucket as the origin server of a CDN acceleration domain name, and set the origin server type to Domain name. Accessing the accelerated domain name consumes internet outbound traffic charged by OBS and also traffic charged by CDN, when the CDN cache is not hit.
- If the origin server type is set to OBS bucket, accessing the accelerated domain name consumes the quota of your OBS pull traffic package and traffic charged by CDN, when the CDN cache is not hit.
Therefore, if your application scenario involves a lot of data transfer over the internet, internet outbound traffic packages are also recommended. Otherwise, you do not need to purchase an internet outbound traffic package. You will be charged per use if such traffic occurs.
