Why Can't I Access the Website Even Though the Domain Name Has Been Resolved?

Website access is performed at two necessary phases. Figure 1 shows process for accessing a website.

Figure 1 How DNS routes Internet traffic to a website
  • Phase 1: The DNS server translates the domain name into the IP address of the web server and returns the IP address to the client.

At this phase, the website cannot be accessed if either of the following occurs:

    • The domain name cannot be resolved.

Rectify this issue by referring to What Can I Do If a Record Set Does Not Take Effect?

    • Real-name authentication is not completed for the domain name.

According to MITT's regulations, real-name authentication must be completed within five days after a domain name is purchased. Otherwise, the domain name is inaccessible on the Internet.

If you purchase domain names from Huawei Cloud, perform real-name authentication on the Huawei Cloud management console. For those registered with third-party registrars, refer to their help documents.

After the domain name passes the real-name authentication, you do not need to reconfigure the record set, which will automatically take effect when the domain name status changes to ok.

  • Phase 2: The client accesses the web server using the IP address, and the web server returns the desired content.
The website cannot be accessed even if the domain name is resolved but one of the following events occurs:
    • The web server is unavailable due to network problems or other issues.
    • The domain name and the IP address of the web server are not licensed.

According to MITT's regulations, unlicensed domain names and IP addresses cannot be used on the Internet.

If the web server is deployed on Huawei Cloud, license your website on Huawei Cloud.
